Gun + Tear Drops= Prank #QuickMath

Transfers went pretty smoothly this week. Elder Mayo is a stud three of us have been working pretty hard. There are no more sisters in the area so we are teaching their investigators now.

We finished DCS (a meeting with missionaries and ward mission leader) a bit late. We go to the basketball court after and found Yさん(I won't say his name) crying. We talk to him a bit and then we play basketball. As we wrapped up, I invited him to go get some Indo curry with us. I saw something that looked like a gun in his bag but I ignored it. He then asked Elder Mayo if he could talk with about something private, in which Elder Mayo refused. We get to the restaurant and Yさん begins crying again. He shows us a picture of his girlfriend, telling us she broke up with him. After saying he wants to die, he reaches in his bag and begins to pull out a gun. Elder Mayo stopped him, and told him to talk about it outside. We go outside the restaurant and he explains a little more, still crying and upset. We both comfort him and then go back in.

We begin eating our curry and he continues to cry and reach for the gun every now and then. Eventually, as we finish our food, his countenance changes. He tells us that everything was a prank. The picture of his "girlfriend" was a boy, the gun was fake, and he doesn't want to kill himself. He left after telling us that. Man, were we upset. Thankfully, we all had the patience and cared enough to not put him down on the spot. One doesn't joke about things like that, especially if it involves a gun and life.

Despite that crazy experience, I got to go to two sacrament meetings; one for Yamato and one for the Zama Military Branch. It was pretty odd hearing only English. Everyone was so friendly though. It's such a blessing that I get to work with two great groups of people!

Have a fantastic week!
