I Found My People! - Transfer 16

What's good!!?
P-day always ends up pretty tiring. Not sure why. I'll just make a quick summary of the week:
-Elder Bird went to the mission office to be the new tech staff. His companion, Elder Hansen, joined our companionship and we've been a trio since. We also have 関根長老 join us a lot so we are basically a group companionship. Super OP
-We 伝道'd with a youth planning to serve a mission!
- Fei came back from his vacation and we set up a baptismal date for Sept. 15. Coming to church is still a bit difficult but we are working on it
- The ward had the annual summer festival. We were in charge of the game booths; the kids got a kick out of that. There was also fried chicken, yakisoba, taiko drums and dancing. It was a great turn out!
- The missionaries sang "I'll Find You My Friend" in sacrament meeting
- We met the guy who recorded the original DBZ soundtrack! Shortly after, we ran into a Thai couple. Using my poor Thai skills, English, Japanese, and some help from God we were able to exchange contact info! We will meet them soon!

Transfer announcements came..I am staying in Yamato! My son, Elder Ormond is going to 小田原 and Elder Hansen will stay with me. We'll also be getting Elder Mayo in a few days. So I am staying in a trio! The sisters are being closed, meaning we'll teach their investigators. That'll be a first for all of us! That's all I've got for now, so stay cool!

Not Enough Asian

This week was a pretty good week for contacting people. Elder Ormond is getting more adjusted to missionary life, the culture and language at a pretty good rate so props to him. The tricky part has been exchanging contact info so that we can meet up again. Not a whole lot of people are open to exchange contact info right away, but we'll keep trying!

Elder Stevenson from the Quorum of the 12, Bishop Davies, Elder Gay and our area presidency met with us this past weekend. Elder Stevenson served as a mission president in the Japan Nagoya mission a few years back; it was a pretty cool connection. He speaks great Japanese too!

As we were finding this week, we met a few people from Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao, and China. I talked to the people from Thailand and Cambodia with my less-than-mediocre Thai and Khmer. They lit up and started talking real fast. I picked up a bit of what they were saying and tried to respond. After that, I realized that one needs to be familiar with all those cultures and languages before finding in that area. Making me not enough asian haha.  It was quite the experience!

Elder Bird is leaving us to be the new tech staff...meaning that his companion Elder Hansen will join us. We'll be a threesome until transfers next week. Another adventure!

Pikachu Party!

What's good!
We've been doing a lot of finding recently cause the people we've been teaching are disappearing off the face of the earth. A lot of people just stopped contacting us. One of our investigators, こうき is moving back to his hometown so he came to church one last time. Feiさん is off to Okinawa for a week or so.

I got to go on splits with Elder Nielson. We were in the MTC together for a little while, so it was quite the opportunity. We met a guy while housing that was way down to talk. He knew missionaries already cause they always say hi to him while he's going to work. Greetings go a long way folks.

We went to Yokohama today and it was just packed with people. There is a Pikachu parade going on throughout the city. People dressed in pikachu costumes were walking down the street. I'm pretty sure there was at least a half million people out there today.
Gotta catch 'em all!

I’m So Fancy.. You Already Know

I'm officially out of interesting titles... I hope you know where this one is from.

We finished closing the Zama apartment this week and then had dinner with the 関根家.
Fei兄弟 is doing great! We began teaching him the Plan of Salvation and he made some amazing connections. He also expressed that he ever since he's been taking lessons, he wants to improve his life more. Its amazing to see the power of God work through others. Now we just have to get him to church!

There was an open base summer festival at Zama camp this weekend. We did some 伝道 around the base, especially passing out fliers. We talked to a good amount of people.
And on Sunday night, there was a smaller festival near the church. We talked to a few families there and enjoyed some culture. Our mission president's counselor played the taiko drum pretty hard haha.

Today we went to Enoshima, an island off the coast. We had some nice Hawaiian burgers at Kua' Aina and then toured the island. It's been nearly two years since I've been there so we did some photo recreations. Lot of walking though and I'm ready to crash.

Something I was able to re-learn this week is that God knows each one of us. He knows our joys, our sadness. Just like a parent cares for each child and wants them to succeed, Heavenly Father loves all of us and desires our happiness. He knows what will bring us true joy in this life and the one to come. All we have to do is pray, choose to follow Him, and act righteously :) Never forget that! Love you all!
